I thought Elysia operates as a health retreat 7 days a week, as your Queensland retreat does – is this still the case?No. During the week, Elysia still operates as a dedicated 5 day health retreat program from Midday Sunday to 11am Friday. At weekends we still feature healthy menus however, we have augmented this with some more indulgent items and quality coffee and wine list.
Why has Golden Door changed its operation?In recent times, the Hunter Valley has become a very high demand destination for the leisure market particularly at weekends. Customer feedback and research has shown that demand for a solely dedicated health retreat in this location at weekends is low, whereas demand for leisure resorts in this location is high. On reviewing these factors, management determined that it is possible to operate more as a leisure resort at weekends without compromising standards and principles. While management recognises that these changes are to some degree controversial, they are in line with global and domestic developments within this industry.
Can Program and Independent Retreat guests stay over weekends?No. Program and Independent Retreat Guest stays are not offered at weekends. The Spa Hotel guests stay is the only category of stay offered at weekends.
But I wanted to do a 7 day program?The Golden Door Health Retreat in Willowvale located in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland offers the renowned 7 day program.
Are alcohol, coffee and other indulgences available?Yes. At weekends, our menu does include some more indulgent items and features quality coffee and a premium wine list. The wine list also features some organic wines.
