The Golden Door Health Retreat - Elysia

Location

Elysia is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city to connect you to nature, but not so far from the big centres that a shorter stay is impossible. Just a two and a half hour drive north west of Sydney on the F3 freeway, Elysia is situated like a citadel atop a large, rolling hill to take advantage of the magnificent views and the Brokenback mountain range.

As soon as you approach the retreat, taking in the fresh air and the lush vistas of the countryside, you’ll notice that you’re beginning to relax and unwind. By the time you reach your destination and enter the retreat, you’ll be ready to leave the mundane world behind and begin a healing journey that will soothe and balance the mind, body and spirit.

Directions to The Golden Door Health Retreat – Elysia (from Sydney)

  • From the centre of Sydney, cross the Harbour Bridge and proceed along the Pacific Highway to the National 1 (F3) Freeway at Wahroonga
  • Travel north towards Newcastle (approximately 1 hour ) 100km
  • Turn off freeway at Cessnock/Kurri Kurri exit (Highway 82) and follow signs to Cessnock (15 mins)  (change to  20-30 Mins)
  • As you enter Cessnock along Aberdare Road, turn right at the first set of traffic lights onto Vincent Street
  • Proceed through Cessnock to Allandale Road following signs to Branxton
  • Turn left at traffic lights onto Wollombi Road (following directional signs to Branxton – still Highway 82) and then first right at the traffic lights onto Allandale Road, passing swimming pool on the left and McDonalds restaurant on the right
  • Proceed along Allandale Road, 5km out of Cessnock you will pass Cessnock Airport and the Visitor Information Centre on the left
  • Turn left 500 metres past the airport into Broke Road
  • Follow Broke Road for 3km to T-intersection
  • Turn left at T-intersection onto McDonalds Road. Remain on this road and turn right onto Thompsons Road after Brokenwood (delete) and Tamburlaine wineries
  • Follow Thompsons Road (passing Cypress Lakes Resort on your left). Proceed for 1.5km and take your first left following the directional signs to Elysia

    • Directions to The Golden Door Health Retreat – Elysia (from Newcastle Airport)

  • As you leave the airport carpark, turn left and follow this road to the main road, which is Nelson Bay Road
  • Turn right and follow until you come to a roundabout and turn right onto Tomago Road, which will take you to Hexham
  • Follow this road to a large T intersection and turn left to Hexham
  • Over the Hexham Bridge, turn right at traffic lights towards Maitland/Cessnock
  • Approximately 5km, take the exit to Kurri Kurri/Cessnock, following this road all the way through to Cessnock
  • Once you have entered Cessnock turn right at the traffic lights onto Allandale Road, passing swimming pool on the left and McDonalds restaurant on the right
  • Proceed along Allandale Road, 5km out of Cessnock you will pass Cessnock Airport and the Visitor Information Centre on the left

  • Domestic airlines operate services into Newcastle Airport from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
  • We offer a complimentary shuttle transfer service from Newcastle airport for all guests staying on our 7 day Health Enhancement Program (at set times only). If you are staying on the 5 day health program or as an Independent Retreat Guest there is a small fee to use this service.

    • Please speak with our reservations staff to discuss your requirements NB: Train lines do not service the area.

    Sunday Arrival Details

    If you would like to use our shuttle transfer service from Sydney to Elysia, we offer 2 pick up locations.

    Sydney Airport - please arrange your flight to land no later than 9.00am at Sydney Domestic Airport Terminal Three. Meeting point will be at the Qantas arrivals area. The bus will depart at 9.30am sharp.

    Chatswood Train Station - Bus will meet curb side at Railway Street Bus Stop departing at 10.00am sharp. (10.15am sharp)

    Friday & Sunday Departure Details

    Our shuttle transfer service will depart Elysia at 12.30pm following lunch, arriving into Chatswood Train Station at 3.30pm and Sydney Domestic Airport (Terminal 3) at 4.30pm. Please ensure you allow some additional time for flight check in with your carrier.

    Scheduled Transfers to and from Newcastle Airport

    Sunday Arrivals:

    Our transfer service will pick up at 9.00am from Newcastle airport meeting outside the baggage claim area.

    Friday Departures:

    Our transfer service departs Elysia at 10.30am and have you arriving at Newcastle Airport at 11.30am.

    *Departing flights to Melbourne are not available until the evening. We reccomend booking your return flights from Sydney airport and taking the Sydney shuttle bus from Elysia to Sydney (see above for time for arrival Sydney airport).

    Sunday Departures:

    Our transfer service departs Elysia at 10.30am and have you arriving at Newcastle Airport at 11.30am.  ( these can be made into one heading)

    Transfer Rates: Scheduled transfers are complimentary for guests staying on the 7 day Health Enhancement Program. Guests staying for the 5 day Optimal Wellness Program can utilise the shuttle transfers at a cost of $60 per person, one way from Sydney or $50 per person, one way from Newcastle.

    The Golden Door Health Retreat Queensland is located in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland, just 30 minutes north of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and approx 45 minutes south of Brisbane.     By Plane

    Arrival Details

    If you would like to use our courtesy bus services, please arrange your flight to land by 10.00 am at the Brisbane Domestic Airport. Meeting point will be at the Qantas arrivals area by carousel number three. For guests traveling on International flights, please take the train which departs every 15 minutes to the Domestic terminal. The train will cost $4.00. We will meet you at the Qantas arrivals area, by carousel number three.

    Please confirm your flight details with us prior to arrival to secure your space on our courtesy bus. The bus will depart at 10.30am sharp.

    Departure Details

    For Friday departures the courtesy transfer will have you arriving at Brisbane Domestic Airport ready for flights after 16:00 (4.00pm).

    For Sunday departures the courtesy transfer will have you arriving at Brisbane Domestic Airport ready for flights after 11:00am.

    By Road

    We are located 30 minutes north of the Gold Coast and 45minutes south of Brisbane, in the Gold Coast hinterland.

    Directions:

    From the Pacific Highway.
    Take PIMPAMA Exit for those coming from the SOUTH (Exit 49).
    Take Pimpama Exit for those arriving from the NORTH (Exit 49).
    Follow the WILLOW VALE signs until you reach the STOP sign at the intersection of Hotham Creek Road.
    Turn LEFT into Hotham Creek Road. This road becomes Ruffles Road.
    Approximately 4km from the stop sign, look for a yellow fork road sign, and veer RIGHT to continue on Ruffles Road (left is Baileys Mountain Road).
    The Golden Door is behind the large gate at the end of Ruffles Road.

    Getting There

    Directions to Salt Village from the Gold Coast
    • Travel south along the M1 expressway to the major intersection at Tugan. Follow signage to Ballina & Murwillumbah and pass the Gold Coast Airport on your right hand side travelling in a south direction
    • Travel through Banora Point and continue south on the Pacific Highway, crossing over the Tweed River Bridge
    • Continue for 1km then take the first Kingscliff exit on your left. At the first roundabout, turn left into Chinderah Bay Drive
    • Travel 2km, turn left into Wommin Bay Road, which connects to Marine Parade, and continue south along the beach front of North Kingscliff
    • Travel south along Marine Parade, turn right at the first roundabout into Seaview Street. At the second roundabout, turn left into Sutherland Street
    • Travel south along Sutherland Street for 1km, cross over the Old Cudgen Bridge, which will connect you onto Casuarina Way
    • Travel south along Casuarina Way and continue through the first roundabout. Turn Left at the next roundabout into Bells Boulevard. Peppers Salt Resort & Spa will be on your left. Follow the directions to the reception area
    Directions to Salt Village from NSW
    • Travel north along the Pacific Highway passing through Ballina & Byron Bay
    • Continue north on the Pacific Highway and take the Waugh St / Kingscliff Exit Lane
    • Travel along Waugh Street, turn left into Phillip Street, then left into Wommin Bay Road that connects to Marine Parade, and continue south along the beach front of North Kingscliff
    • Travel south along marine parade and turn right at the first roundabout into Seaview Street. At the second roundabout, turn left into Sutherland Street

    From the F3 freeway follow the signs to the Vineyards/Cessnock (20-30 minutes).

    From Cessnock follow the signs to Pokolbin/Vineyards (10 minutes)

    From Wine Country Drive, turn left onto Broke Rd immediately after the Hunter Tourist Information Centre and continue on Broke Rd until reaching McDonalds Road (5 minutes).

    Turn left onto McDonalds Road and continue for approx 2km. Turn right onto Thompson's Road (entrance to Cypress Lakes Resort) and follow the signs.
